Why Distinguished Care Options?

We conduct an extensive background check on all our caregivers. We are very careful about who we hire and with whom we match our caregivers. Also, if a caregiver cannot make a shift due to their own illness, we can replace that person with another caregiver and not leave the client and/or family without coverage. And, we handle payroll and taxes for all our caregivers, which is something for which you would be responsible when privately hiring a caregiver.

All our home health care staff go through a rigorous screening process:

  • Employment history verification and minimum of two reference checks
  • Criminal history background check
  • Verification of active license and certification
  • Written competency testing
  • Adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
  • Screened through Office of Inspector General (OIG) sanction registry
  • Screened through state Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) registry
  • Certification of Social Security numbers

Private Duty Care vs. Healthcare at Home

Private Duty

Private Duty services are designed to help someone with a disability or an older adult safely manage the activities of daily living and do not require medical care.  The majority of Private Duty services are paid for by the client or family, however, there are some other types of programs that pay for the services.  Private Duty services make it possible for people with functional limitations to remain at home in a comfortable, familiar environment and can include help with bathing, dressing, and grooming as well as housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation and in some cases medication reminders.

Certified Healthcare at Home

Private Duty Healthcare at Home, also known as Certified Home Health Care or VNA services, provide skilled nursing and therapy services. Patients typically receive skilled services in their home after a a surgery or hospitalization for an injury or serious illness. Most home healthcare agencies are reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies. In order for Medicare to cover home health services, the patient must be meet three criteria:

  • Be considered homebound where leaving home requires considerable and taxing effort.
  • The skilled services must be a medical necessity.
  • Patient must have a physician’s order and have a physician’s supervised plan of care
